AK Trip - Day Three - Monday, June 18th,

Today was a “Beautiful Day!”

Last night it stormed around midnight. This morning we talked to several Harley guys who arrived late amidst hail and lightning. After the storm passed the new day dawned with bright blue skies and moderate mid seventy temps. We couldn’t ask for a better day to ride.

Leaving Ogallala, NE we rode northwest following The Oregon Trail to Chimney Rock National Monument.

Just few miles farther brought us to Scott’s Bluff, NE and The Scott’s Bluff National Monument. After a trip through the visitors center we rode to the top of the bluff for some pictures.

Leaving Scott’s Bluff, we quickly crossed into Wyoming.

Another park visited was Fort Laramie NHS. Here we discovered I had been issued an outdated National Park Pass. The Park Rangers quickly fixed the problem by issuing me a brand new one.

All in all, we faced few challenges today. Among the few was a forty mile freshly milled section of highway and the usual late afternoon winds. Looming in the distance - The Tetons and Yellowstone.
That's tomorrow!

I can't wait!

  1. Sounds like a great trip! All the planning paid off! How is the suspension after being lowered and then carrying a load? I hate being the one to put a wrench on the suspension a few days before you leave. I hope it is handling like you wanted. Have fun and ride safe!
